Despite its Native American makeover the gameplay remains intact. The best way to describe it is Mega Man with an Indian protagonist. These can be completed in any order granting new abilities. Soaring Eagle is a more versatile protagonist as his spear can perform a number of functions at the onset and only grows from there.

The large variety of abilities and weapons makes an already fun game that much better however with Whomp Em ranking up with the best for the system. Every now and then I like to kick back with a nice puzzle game to stretch my brain.

As Kickle you must use your ice related abilities to collect all of the red dream bags within the time limit. Although a single screen puzzler the puzzles are incredibly clever, often featuring simple solutions for the most complex arrangements. Even better, with skill you can create alternative solutions to a given puzzle. While unconventional Kickle Cubicle also features boss battles for a nice change of pace. With its near perfect learning curve the game is an absolute joy to play and one I highly recommend.

Konami were able to spin gold out of the second TV series as your team of agents are tasked with rescuing Dr. O and agent Reed from the Sinister 7.

Mission Impossible takes many of the stealth elements of Metal Gear and adapts it to a team structure and overhead view. Each team member has specific skills necessary to complete each level and the way the game integrates them is brilliant. Although level based the game is massive and a little free form. While that can be annoying it does lttle to diminish a fantastic game. You want to talk about rare, I almost never saw Isolated Warrior in any stores. That would be a shame as it truly is an amazing hidden gem.

The isometric viewpoint was rare in that period but works extremely well here. Equal parts action and platformer the level design is excellent as it branches off into separate paths. Isolated warrior avoids the mistakes of similar games with any kind of platforming by offering a large degree of control while airborne. For some added variety there are vehicle based levels thrown in the mix too.

It looks spectacular and is well paced leading up to a worthwhile conclusion to this hidden gem. And speaking of Bionic Commando Bionic Commando, another one of my favorite NES games Now, you may be saying "this game isn't underrated! There is a Next Gen version of this game coming out! This game was pretty much unknown a few years ago This game was known as Hitler no Fukkatsu in Japan and even if you don't know Japanese, you know what it involves just by looking at the name Since the Japanese Version had a lot of Nazi themes it had to change certain backgrounds and names This game was awesome.

Whether it was the excellent music, the great gameplay, the challenging difficulty, or just wanting to see Hitler's head explode, this game had it all Except for the fame it deserved Now many people play this game, due to various compilations and the New Game coming out.

If you have not played this game, you really owe it to yourself to play it, posthaste! Star Tropics This game is one of the reasons I made this list, to be honest. In this game, you play as Mike Jones. You go to the tropical C-Island to visit your Grandfather, but he was kidnapped by monsters and now you must save him using his submarine, a Yo-yo and his trusty companion, R.

This game should be more recognized and you must play this game The sequel was just as good as this game and is tied with being by-far the most underrated NES games out there. There were a lot more games I wanted to add, but ultimately decided not to.

I had a lot of fun with that using the 4 player Satellite thing. In my opinion, Crystalis was not just underrated, it was literally the best game on the nes and one of was greatest games ever made. It was amazing for its time, with a deep story, an open world, amazing features, and combat that was a blast.

I'll always remember things like getting the magic spell that let me transform into a girl so i could enter the amazon village, or befriending a dolphin so i could ride his back and explore the ocean. There was so much more creativity than you see in most games. True there were a few moments that it was obscure what you were supposed to do next, which was less of a weakness and more of a feature of the times, but you could figure it out. I highly recommend the game to anyone, and even go back and play it regularly.
