Much of the criticism leveled against the first film was for its reductive plot that recalled countless other movies. While the prospect of exploring more of Pandora's planet is enticing when considering Cameron's attention to detail and technological innovations, one can't help but wonder if Avatar 2 is doomed to make the same mistakes as its predecessor.

With this human vessel's appearance, it seems as if Avatar 2 may be following the same plot in some ways.

With Jake Sully Sam Worthington and Neytiri Zoe Saldana forced to flee their home from the first film and explore Pandora's underwater worlds, Cameron will likely serve up some exciting visuals and action sequences. If the plot stays the same, though, one of the biggest questions plaguing the film is if it will live up to the astronomical expectations set by the record-breaking first film.

Avatar 2 is sure to be an exciting film, both for its technological innovations and to see if a year-old film can ignite the same enthusiasm for its sequel more than a decade after its premiere.
